About Grace
I found yoga in college when I began taking the free classes offered at my university and I quickly became hooked. The practice allowed me to connect with my own body in ways that I never had before. As someone who had struggled with body image issues throughout the better part of adolescence and young adulthood, yoga allowed me to finally find my strength and begin to appreciate my body for all that it could do. Through the poses and flow of the yoga practice, I began to find my inner peace and strength and completely transformed my self-image.
I earned my first yoga teaching certification through Universal Power Yoga in Norwood, MA in 2015, around the same time that I had begun my graduate studies towards a Master in Social Work degree at Boston University. I have always had a passion for helping others and knew I wanted to dedicate my life to empowering others to live more peaceful lives, based on my own personal experiences and values. I particularly love connecting with children and helping them to feel seen, understood and valued through our work together. I have always dreamed of connecting my social work and yoga teaching practices together and do so throughout my current work with students in the school setting whenever possible. Since completing my initial yoga teacher training, I have also completed an advanced 500 hour yoga teacher training through Universal Power Yoga in 2018 and have taken many specialized certification classes since then, including Yin Yoga and Meditation, SPA Yoga®, Sensory-Enhanced, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Mindfulness-based Yoga for Learning Environments (SMYLE™), and Breathe for Change’s Mindfulness, SEL and Yoga Teacher Training.
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, usually by exploring nature together or cooking and enjoying good food. I value a balance between softness and strength, effort and ease- on and off the yoga mat.
